Sedona is a city that straddles the county line between Coconino and Yavapai counties in the northern Verde Valley region of the U.S. state of Arizona. It has a population around 12.000 people.
The main attraction revolves around its array of red sandstone formations. The formations appear to glow in brilliant orange and red when illuminated by the rising or setting sun. The red rocks form a popular backdrop for many activities, ranging from spiritual pursuits to the hundreds of hiking and mountain biking trails.
Sedona was named after Sedona Arabella Miller Schnebly (1877–1950), the wife of Theodore Carlton Schnebly, the city's first postmaster, who was celebrated for her hospitality and industriousness.[Her mother, Amanda Miller, claimed to have made the name up because "it sounded pretty".
The landscape changes as we traveled up another 2,000 ft from Phoenix. Here the catus changed to that we were so used to seeing in the cowboy movies of old.
This magnificent home can bee seen in all its glory from the high mountains.
When you get up to Sedona the cactus starts to change.
Designed by a Frank Lloyd Wright student, Marguerite Brunswig Staude, the chapel was built in 1956 and rises 200 feet from the ground between two large red rock formations. One of the most distinctive features is a 90-foot cross, which can be seen from the ground along State Route 179. A massive stained glass window turns the chapel's interior into a kaleidoscope of color at certain times of the day. No services are held here, but it provides an ideal setting for spiritual reflection and prayer as well as incredible views of the Red Rocks.

There are many nice eating places in Serdona to choose from to enjoy lunch. The Hudson was recommended by the staff at the Marriott.
We were not disappointed. We shared a brie, apple with fig jam bruchetta . It was delicious.
Ross had scallops which were melt in your mouth .
Beverley had the squash ravioli with walnuts. It was all good.
