Ross and Beverley: February 2019

Ross's Birthday

We celebrated Ross's 69th birthday on 13 February so we took the opportunity to return to Wildfish.
Ross started off with dirty martini. He says they are the best at this restaurant.

Followed by his dozen oysters which came from Irish Point, Rhode Island.

As the oysters are very filling he decided on a lobster bisque. It was very elegantly served and was delicious.

Beverley had Chilian Bass in miso. It was delicious.

With a side of spicy snow peas.

Dessert was on the house and was a creme brulei with scratch made cookies.

It was a wonderful evening. On our return home we opened Ross's birthday gift, a bottle of Penfols Bin 389. A great end to a fantastic evening.

As his birthday is the day prior to Valantine's day all the female guests received a red rose.

Another place we enjoy eating is The Hoppy Monk. This evening we shared Moules Frites which in English is penn cove mussels, wild caught gulf shrimp, spicy morzono broth, fennel, schallots and garlic leeks. Accompanied by parsley fries.

And a great hamburger with an egg.

We always enjoy dinner with Stephanie and Justin. This evening we were at Cody's Bar and Bistro. It's a fantastic place to eat and provides a wide range of menue items from escargot from France to beef welltington from GB to baby back ribs from Texas.

Eggspectation is another favorate of ours. The first time we ate at this establishment was in Montreal, Canada. At that time there choice of menue was rather small being mostly eggs. Today it offers a wide range of delicious foods. Brunch this day for Beverley was vegitarian crepe stuffed with mushrooms, spinach, cheese , peper's etc.

Ross enjoyed eggs benidict served with montreal cornbeef.

Another day , same restuarant, Beverley had the brie and walnut crostini which was made up of ciabatta slices broiled with brie and drissled with honey. Garnished with walnuts and freah apple slices. It was delicious and only cost US$ 9.95.

Ross the lobster omelette which is a quarter-pound of gently sautaued lobster, brie and green onions, topped with hollandaise sauce. Served with lyonnaise potatoes. it was very rich in taste but economical to purchase at US$ 19.95.

We do not eat out all of the time and this evening we enjoyed Australian lamb chops with advocardo salad with mustard, soy and ginger dressing.

Dinner was accompanied by a good Australian red, Jacob's Greek shiraz/ cab. Both the wine and lamb is much cheaper to by here that in Australia.

Another evening we enjoyed fresh sea scallops with rice.

We really enjoy fish and this eveing we cooked spicy tilapia with lyonnaise potatoes and peas.

We up graded another evening to include garlic salmon mornay, honey and garlic prawns and tilapia with a warm fig salad including roasted walnuts and blue cheese.

We also make desserts at home and here is a wine trifle.

We also try to eat healthy so here is low carb icecream, blueberries, strawberries with home made caramel sauce.

Life is too short to eat bad food and drink bad wine.

Out & About In SAT

We have many dear friends in the USA and on this evening Stephanie, Justin and Merilee joined us for dinner. This is camping in our friends home. We had a great evening.

San Antonio provides many places to dine. Sams Boat is an intersting place to eat.

As a sports bar it has 50 large TV's throughout the restaurant. So if your conversation stalls there is always a TV to look at.

Ocassionally we act like an American and enjoy breakfast out. This morning we dinned at La'Madeleine. Ross enjoyed a scrambled egg crepe with gurye cheese.

Beverley decided on a sweeter treat which was Belgium waffles.

Another day we lunched at Costa Pacifica. The dishes here are infulenced from the Pacific Coast of Mexico.

A number of the foods served involves seafood. They are very tasty.

Albert, Adrian and Cameron came to visit. Whilst here the boys trimmed the Fig Tree.

Christmas / More food and friends

Very early we caught up with Justin and Stephanie.

Christmas Eve we enjoyed the evening at Wild Fish a favourite restuarant we frequent. Ross enjoyed a dirty martini to start off the evening. Beverley had a champange.

His first course was1 dozen Mayflower oysters from New England.

We shared for our main a 4 delicious Maine lobster tails.

Dessert was a banana foster, curteousy of our friend Greg who works at this restuarant.

San Antonio Continued

As it's winter here our dear friend who was our next door neighbour in SAT offered us his home to use until the weather is good enough to travel. As he and his children are living in our home in AU its vacant . We were delighted to see that gasoline was only $US 1.89 a gallon.

Just after moving in Jesse our friend who also mows our lawn found we had a huge leak in the front yard. Jesse is also a plumber

The water was stopped very quickly.
As the house was vacant we neede to purchase some funiture. Below is our dinning room suite.

The bedroom.

Our other American friends were very gracious and provided lamps, bar stools, amhwars, love seats etc which has made camping in a 40 sq home more comfortable. We have taken all of our goods and chattles from our RV so we are very comfortable.

Back in San antonio, Texas

After 7 months back in Australia it was time to come back to our second home. We arrived back in San Antonio on 10 Dec 2018 and will be here in the USA for 12 months. On arrival we stayed at the Marriott Courtyard which is close by Papadeaux which is a fantastic restaurant.
