Today we spent our first day in Yellowstone National Park which is huge. The are several routes one can take around the park and today we did the Central Plateau. The route is identified from the map below.
We had hardly started our journey when we had to pull over for a very heavy hailstorm. The temperature dropped to 41 F with very poor visibility.

Fortunately the weather lifted and the sun came out.
We were able to enjoy lunch at this restaurant which is 7,000 feet above sea level.
This part of the Park is famous for its Geyser's.
In particular Old Faithful.
As we did not get to see her famous eruption we took the picture that tells the story.
Here she is starting to get here steam up.
This part of the Park has an ever changing landscape from the rugged mountainous outcrops.
To the bareness similar the Scottish Highlands.
While the Park has many wild fauna, today we only got to see Buffalo/ Bison up close and personal.
The scenery is magnificent and we are hopefull that we will have more luck tomorrow with the wildlife.
