Roswell is the home of the Alien Spacecraft, where this story started on that famous day on July 6, 1947. It was a day that changed this town forever. On this day a local rancher informed the Roswell authorities about an object that had crashed. Investigating officials at the Roswell Army Field first reported that they had discovered a 'flying disk'. However, a few hours later revised their story saying it was not a UFO, but rather a weather balloon. The mystery surrounding what really happened is still being debated.
There are many shops which provide all things alien.
It is a must to visit the International UFO Museum and Research Center.
It provides the entire story of the "discovery".

This carving comes from the lid to a tomb belonging to the temples of the Mayan peoples in Mexico. This particular craving portrays an astronaut sitting at the controls of his spaceship.
After our immersion in all things alien we took the opportunity to visit the now stately historic home of Mr and Mrs James Phelps White, a local cattle baron. It was completed in 1921.

We also visited New Mexico Military Institute which was founded in 1891. It is a High school and Junior college (military). It is co-ed and is State supported and admitted women in 1976. We visited Luna Hall which houses the museum.
It has on display General Pershing's Harley Davidson machine gun sidecar.
The campus is very large and features huge sporting fields. 50 flag polls surround the area representing the 50 States of the USA. It starts with Delaware and progresses through every new state in the order that they joined the Union.
Roswell is also the birthplace and or residence of a number of notable persons such as Billy The Kid, John Denver, Demi Moore, Pat Garett, Conrad Hilton and many others.
We were pleased to have the opportunity to visit.
