Recently we were in Terra Haute, Indiana to attend Scott and Elana's wedding on 29 September where Scott attended The Rose Holman Institute of Technology. The day we arrived we were greeted by gray skies.
The population of the area is around 80,000 people and it is a university town. It has a number of elegant buildings such as the Court of Commissioners.
Located in the grounds of this building are tributes to veteran's of past and current wars.
Below are some words which express the feelings of many.
We also enjoyed the opportunity to eat some very tasty Asian food at the Tokyo Restaurant in Terra Haute,
These were the best Gyoza (pot sickers) we have even eaten.
The steak was also very delicious.
The dessert was interesting.
Beverley enjoyed a Tokyo Tea.
The hibachi was good fun with delicious food.
Ross enjoyed a large Japanese beer.
It was then off to the wedding which was conducted in the White Chapel located in the grounds of the College.
Scott's father walked Elena down the isle. This was a great effort on his part as he has been very sick this year and has sadly lost his much loved wife and elder son.
The ceremony was conducted by Scott's room mate from his time at college. His friend is now a Judge in New York.
The happy couple. Elena's parents were who live in Belarus, Russia were able to see the wedding via the computer. Elana and Scott will be having another wedding in Belarus with her family later this year.
The wedding reception was held at The Stable, a very elegant restaurant located downtown.
The wedding cake was very elegant.
There was lots of dancing and laughing.
The table setting was very pretty.
It was so good to catch up with Mike once again. Both Scott and Mike are retired US Military. We all met when they were both posted to Australia many years ago. Earlier this year we met up with Mike and Tina in St Louis on our way up to visit Scott and Elena in Wisconsin. Unfortunately Tina could not join us at the wedding and we missed her. Always great to see old friends again.
We had a wonderful time in Terra Haute. We wish Scott and Elena many years of love and happiness.
Cheers Beverley and Ross
