We travelled through the Columbia River Gorge along the Lewis and Clarke trail to Hood River. Our first stop was to the National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. It provides a great view of the surriunding areas.
Samuel Langcaster 1864 - 1941 was the Chief Engineer for the scenic Columbia River Highway 1913 -1915. he was the Pioneer builder of hard-surface roads.
The view from this height was amazing.
From here we travelled the historic route and where we passed several waterfalls. The most famous being the Multnomah Falls.
From here we passed the Horse Tail Falls. There are many beautiful falls along the this route.
We travelled down to the Hood River area for lunch. It was a beautiful day but rather windy which suited the wind surfers very well.
We chose to lunch at Soltice, known for its pizzas.
We were entertained by the pizza makers who were skilled at throughting the dough up in the air.
It prides itself on sourcing its produce from the surrounding area.
It was a fun day.
