Nashville - TN

Nashville is the capital of Tenneessee.  It's the home of country music which includes the "Grand Ole Opry," stage and radio show.  The Music Hall of Fame and historic Ryman Auditorium.  Downtown is a hive of activity with honky-tonks and live music in every bar and restaurant.  There is so much to see and do in this music town.

The Grand Ole Opry.  Unfortuntely the day we attended we could not get into the the Auditorium as there was a GM's new model release.  However, there is always next time .

The Hall of Fame is also worth a visit.

Around the corner from here is more about the music city.  1945 saw the birth of birth of the original Blue Grass Band.

A statue of Earle Scruggs AKA Cedric Rainwater.

Beverley thought he was a rather short fellow until she stood next to him.

The Ryman Auditorium.

 Inside  the Auditorium.

Jimmy Dicken's was a member of the Opry for 49 years.

Here is the Parathion which is a replica of the original.

The city has lots of tall buildings.

Downtown is a hive of activity.  BB King has a number of restaurants and we decided to have lunch in this restaurant.

The building is 200 years old and has beautiful woodwork throughout.

Later we visited the George Jones bar and restaurant for a drink.

There is live music wherever you go in Nashville.   Mostly played very loud.

We decided to visit a roof top bar and here is a gentleman who is clearly unhappy with the number of illegal immigrants coming into the USA and proudly displays this on his tee shirt.

Another day we decided to eat German food.   It was a huge restaurant.

For the locals who frequent the restaurant their beer stiens are stored for them.

They also have an array of cook-coo clocks.

Anyone for a traditional outfit.

We opted for the onion soup.  It was delicious.

There are several churches in the downtown and this church is the First Baptist Church which was built in the late 1960's and is the 4th downtown home of Nashville's First Baptist Church, established in 1820.

You see many interesting things when you travel.  This day this mobile beer bicycle was the way to get around the city and enjoy a beer or two.

There is also a steam boat.

Nashville has many high-rise buildings.

This is Fort Nashville , the origins of the City.

It is a very easy city to walk around and something for everyone to enjoy.  This is our third trip to Nashville and its always a fun place to visit.  We are now off to Memphis.

Cheers,

Beverley and Ross
