The Blue Ridge Mountains are described as a physiographic province of the larger Appalachian Mountain Range. They are noted for having a bluish color from a distance. The trees put the blue in the Blue Ridge. This is due to the Isoprene which is released into the atmosphere providing a blue haze. It is also the home of Blue Ridge Mountain Music.
It was a beautiful drive and although we were too early for the National Park to be open and the concerts to start we were so pleased we visited this area.
